4 Lessons learned on a journey from $30/hr to $300k/18mo

· Mindset

Around this time 8 years ago, I signed up my first paying client. $180.

I thought I was on top of the world, even though the project ended up taking me over 6 hours to complete, netting less than 30/hr.

(I will never forget how far-reached the thought of $75/hr felt, a rate I was told to be pretty standard for OBMs/consultants.)

As I kept working, getting results for clients, and positive feedback from them, my confidence in raising my fees kept increasing proportionately.

Around 6 years ago, I sold my first consulting/coaching VIP day for $997.

I thought I was on top of the world, although the client's demands and expectations left me exhausted!

Then came my first $20k client. And then the next,...

I thought I was on top of the world, yet under a ton of pressure to "justify" such trust.

Around that time, I also began investing in my own coaches.

$4,500 was the first "big one" and it took me 2 weeks to take the leap! I was so scared!

To date, I have invested hundreds of thousands in my own personal and professional development.

Still scared, but way more decisive because I learned to trust my inner guidance.

Someone asked me then, "Sara, how could you possibly invest $10k/mo in coaching?" to which my response was simple and filled with pride:

"It's how I saved my life, my marriage. It's how I get paid $10k/VIP Days, and $25k/3mo. It's how my clients add hundreds of thousands of dollars to their bottom line without having to sacrifice what matters to them."

Again, I thought I was on top of the world, with so much to prove and justify...still.

Today, I do not feel like I am on top of the world. I feel grounded.

I have nothing to prove or justify. I own it.

I am at peace.

And in love.

In love with the work I get to do every day,

and in love with people I get to serve - they truly inspire me!

I am in love with limitless possibilities we get to create, potential we unleash, results they get to experience.

And I am in love with who we are collectively becoming when we continue to say YES to ourselves on new levels.

And, when I say WE, I mean it: because in order for the clients to show up for themselves, I get to show up for myself FIRST, and for them.

See, we get to raise the bar, and I get to hold the vision & space for my clients as they step up & raise to the occasion.

We elevate the conversations, perspective, and attitude around their ideas, vision, and possibilities for the future of their unique design.

Today, the investment to work together privately ranges from $15k to $300k...,

...with a multi-fold ROI and ROE immediately, over the next 10 years, and over the lifetime.

And today, I know that all of this is way more than just the numbers game, tangible results, and fulfilling someone else's "should."

It's about

• deeper and stronger relationships with oneself, loved ones, and friends;

• more of being present and sharing quality time with one's family;

• creating new, rich, and extensive experiences as we turn the world into a playground;

• continuously growing spiritually, emotionally, and professionally to fulfill one's dharma;

• making a positive, intentional impact and lasting contribution to the world.

Here are the 4 lessons I have learned on this journey: Lesson #1:

With growth comes change.

With change comes discomfort.

With discomfort comes evolution.

Lesson #2:

But only when one is willing to dream, think, and play bigger than their fears.

Lesson #3:

Only when one is able to hold the vision while dropping into each moment.

Lesson #4:

And only when one takes radical responsibility.
